Internships at Acupay

Acupay had the pleasure of welcoming Felicia Yi as an intern in our Technology Team over the summer.

Over a three-month period, she participated in regular meetings and retrospectives while working on projects that added value to our systems and business as a whole. She was managed by our Head of New Product Engineering and DevOps while completing projects for our Head of Production Systems Engineering.

On her first project, Felicia worked closely with a full stack developer associate mentor and other team members, who guided her to create an automated Python service from scratch, called “FileWatcher”. Felicia’s daily hands-on work implemented engineering best practices for coding, version control, team reviews, documentation, knowledge transfer and non-production deployments.

For her second project, Felicia had the opportunity to translate and map the functions and features of a legacy, mission-critical production service called “BarParse” so that we could build a plan to modernize the service using Python and AWS Cloud infrastructure.

According to Felicia, the internship helped her to gain confidence in her technical skills as well as gain knowledge through watching and asking colleagues for advice and sharing of experiences.

As a company, Acupay would like to thank Felicia for sharing her energy and enthusiasm. Our team enjoyed mentoring and making sure that she got a sense of what working in an agile environment was really like.

If you or someone you know would be interested in and would benefit from an internship at Acupay, please get in touch with Laurie Schmidt, our Chief People Officer.
